Technical University of Dresden is one of eleven German universities that were identified by the German government as an ‘excellence university’. TUD has about 37.000 students, 4.400 publicly funded staff members – among them over 500 professors – and approximately 3.500 externally funded staff members, and, thus, is the largest university in Saxony, today. TUD is strong in research and provides first-rate programmes with an overwhelming diversity, with close ties to culture, industry and society.

Having been committed to sciences and engineering before the reunification of TUD has extensive experience in EU projects with a dedicated organizational unit, the European Project Center (EPC), to support international project management throughout all phases of EU-funded projects. It is currently coordinating and managing more than 270 projects with a total project volume amounting to over 127 million EURO granted by the European Commission. For example, TUD is coordinating eight Horizon 2020 collaborative projects. Furthermore, TUD is currently host to 21 European Research Council (ERC) grantees, a partner in the FET Flagships HBP und GRAPHENE and partner in around 75 Horizon 2020 projects. Currently, TUD ranks third place of German universities in terms of number of Horizon 2020 projects. The Chair of Wirtschaftsinformatik – Information Management at the Faculty of Business and Economics is active in teaching, research, and knowledge transfer at the interfaces between economic, organizational, social, information technology and didactic questions. The focus is on support of :
– Complex university and company learning environments through suitable e-learning arrangements and
– Knowledge-oriented teamwork through collaborative social software systems.
